Cappel YAB IGPLAINFIELD – To elevate young people’s voices and ensure every generation has a seat at the table, State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel is accepting applications to join her Youth Advisory Board for the 2026-27 school year.

“The Youth Advisory Board is an exciting opportunity for high school students in the district to learn more about state government, partner with community organizations and share their thoughts on issues that matter most to them,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “I always look forward to meeting and collaborating with students from our community.”

Loughran Cappel’s Youth Advisory Board is comprised of high school students in District 49. The board focuses on youth engagement in the community and state government with a range of activities throughout the year such as park clean-ups, visiting the State Capitol, partnering with local organizations and learning more about the governmental process.

“Students are our leaders of the future and ensuring their voices are heard is crucial,” said Loughran Cappel. “I encourage high school students in District 49 to join me and participate in my Youth Advisory Board this school year.”

High school students who live in the 49th District can submit applications here.
