Cappel FoodDrive 10 2026PLAINFIELD – In an effort to give back to the community, State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel and State Representative Jessica Dixon Heitman are hosting a food drive to benefit the Plainfield Area Interfaith Food Pantry.

“Families are in need of support now more than ever,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “With food insecurity and grocery prices climbing, I hope community members will join us to give back to those who need help the most.”

The food drive will run through Oct. 21. Loughran Cappel and Dixon Heitman are collecting nonperishable food items, including canned foods, flour, sugar, pasta, cereal, condiments and cooking spray. A full list of acceptable food donation items can be found here.

Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Loughran Cappel’s office, 20660 Caton Farm Road, Unit D, Crest Hill
  • Dixon Heitman’s office, 24047 Lockport Street, Suite 213, Plainfield

“There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding federal food assistance programs, and while we can’t control what happens on a federal level, food pantries and drives like this allow us to come together as a community to help our friends and neighbors,” said Dixon Heitman. “Over the next month, please consider donating to help the families who may not know where their next meal will come from.”

Residents with questions can reach out to Loughran Cappel’s office at 815-267-6119 or Dixon Heitman’s office at 217-782-1331.
