SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood) released the following statement regarding the Fiscal Year 2027 budget on Monday:
“We are not turning our backs on the promises we’ve made to our communities. We are leading a balanced budget that ensures people’s needs are met.
“Education is crucial to children’s development, from birth through college. This budget ensures our children have access to learning environments that set them up for successful futures. With increased funding for free and reduced lunches, as well as money for mandated categoricals, this budget puts education in the forefront, making sure schools and educational programs receive the funding needed to support our future generations.
