PLAINFIELD – To celebrate and honor those who served our country, State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel will partner with Plainfield Township and Plainfield Park District to host a veterans breakfast event ahead of the Veterans Day holiday.
“Veterans deserve our thanks and recognition for putting their lives on hold in service of something greater than themselves,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “This event serves as a small token of appreciation for our local heroes, while helping them connect with others who have served and providing them an opportunity to learn more about programs and services that are available to assist them.”
ROMEOVILLE – State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel will meet with local residents to discuss how she can best serve the 49th District at her Coffee and Conversation event next week in Romeoville.
“Every month I get the opportunity to hear from residents about their needs and what is important to them,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “Fall session is almost here, and I’m looking forward to hearing from people about their thoughts and bringing their ideas back with me to Springfield.”
The event will be held Thursday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at Tasty Waffle, located at 642 S. Weber Rd. in Romeoville.
Every monthly Coffee and Conversation serves as an open forum for members of the community to converse with the senator and each other about local and state issues.
This event is free and open to residents of the area. If any questions or concerns arise, people can contact Loughran Cappel’s Crest Hill office at 815-267-6119 or visit her website at www.SenatorLoughranCappel.com.
BOLINGBROOK – State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel stands in support with the United Auto Workers union strike in Bolingbrook.
The UAW union expanded its strike against major carmakers Friday, walking out of 38 General Motors and Stellantis parts-distribution centers in 20 states, including about 100 workers at a GM facility in Bolingbrook and 100 at a Stellantis facility in Naperville. Loughran Cappel serves on the Senate Labor Committee and is a former union representative.
“I stand in solidarity with the UAW in Bolingbrook and across the country who are fighting for the rights they deserve and standing up against corporate America,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “It should never be a question if we should prioritize big corporate profits over workers. Every worker has the right to a fair and equitable contract.”
According to the Associated Press, the union is pointing to the carmakers’ huge recent profits as it seeks wage increases of about 36% over four years. The companies have offered a little over half that amount.
“Here in Illinois, Will County and the 49th Senate District, we will protect workers’ rights,” said Loughran Cappel. “I will always be a strong supporter, advocate and voice for the men and women of organized labor.”
ROMEOVILLE – Senator Meg Loughran Cappel’s office will be traveling to the White Oak Library District: Romeoville Branch on Wednesday, Sept. 27 to increase accessibility to residents throughout the 49th District.

The event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at the White Oak Library District: Romeoville Branch, located at 201 Normantown Rd. in Romeoville.
