PLAINFIELD – State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel has teamed up with the Plainfield Park District and Plainfield Area Public Library to host a pet expo for local residents on Sept. 7.
“Pets are a part of our family too,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “Join us for our annual fun, family-friendly event where you can bring your four-legged friends out to show them some love.”
The expo will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Clow Stephens Park, located at 16650 S. Lily Cache Road in Plainfield.
Families are encouraged to bring their pets for an array of photo opportunities, training demonstrations and other activities. Face painting and temporary tattoos will be available for kids, and many local pet businesses will have booths with unique pet products.

CREST HILL – Local residents are invited to join State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel for a cup of coffee and conversations on Aug. 15.
“A good cup of coffee and a conversation can go a long way,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “I hope residents will take this opportunity to chat about any issues or concerns that they may have.”
The free event will be held Thursday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at Jitterhead Brunch & Coffee Co., located at 20631 W. Renwick Rd. in Crest Hill.
The Coffee and Conversation serves as an open forum for community members to share their concerns and talk with the senator about state issues. Coffee will be provided for attendees.

BOLINGBROOK – State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel will hold office hours at the Fountaindale Public Library District on Thursday, July 18 to give residents an opportunity to receive assistance and ask questions.
“My staff will be available to deliver helpful insights, discuss legislation and provide information about resources and programs available for residents,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “I encourage all of our community members to take advantage of the office hours.”
The event will be held on Thursday, July 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Fountaindale Public Library District, located at 300 W. Briarcliff Rd. in Bolingbrook. Loughran Cappel’s office will provide coffee for attendees.
CREST HILL – To emphasize the importance of learning throughout the summer, State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel is hosting a Summer Book Club to encourage students to read and continue their studies during the summer vacation.
“As a former teacher, I have seen the positive benefits reading during the summer months has on students,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “This is a great opportunity for students to better their education and expand their wealth of knowledge.”
The Summer Book Club requires students to read eight books of their choice during the summer break, record the names of the books on a form, and return the form to Loughran Cappel’s office by Aug. 16. Every child who completes the Summer Book Club will be invited to an ice cream social and receive a certificate from Senator Loughran Cappel.
