
BOLINGBROOK – Local residents are invited to join State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel to chat over a cup of coffee on Oct. 21, where she will have open dialogue about how she can best serve the area.
“As a state senator, I work diligently to be available, answer questions and listen to concerns from local residents,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “I enjoy sitting down with a cup of coffee to hear directly from constituents and share resources that are available.”
The free event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Fountaindale Public Library, located at 300 W. Briarcliff Road in Bolingbrook.
Loughran Cappel regularly hosts coffee and chat events, which serve as open forums for community members to share their concerns and talk with the senator about state issues. Coffee will be provided for attendees.

PLAINFIELD – In partnership with the Plainfield Area Public Library and Plainfield Park District, State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel and Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant are hosting a Rescue Rally & Pet Expo in Will County, which will give area residents the opportunity to rescue a new pet and enjoy a day of pet friendly activities.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for shelter animals to get the attention they deserve while also getting families out for some fun,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “And who knows, maybe at the end of the day you will go home with a new furry friend.”
The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Clow Stephens Park – located at 16676 S. Lily Cache Rd. in Plainfield. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own pets in costumes, and no registration is necessary for this free event.

In an effort to equip older adults with the tools and knowledge needed to outsmart today’s most deceptive fraud tactics, State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel is collaborating with other elected officials to host a fraud prevention seminar for seniors.
“Every year, we are seeing more reports of seniors falling victim to financial exploitation,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “Seminars like these allow seniors and family members a chance to hear from experts about common scams and learn about ways they can keep their life savings safe.”
The Senior Fraud Seminar will be held Tuesday, July 8 from 9-11 a.m. in the Bolingbrook Community Room, located at 201 Canterbury Lane in Bolingbrook, in partnership with the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce, Bolingbrook Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta and State Representatives Natalie Manley and Dagmara Avelar. Attendees will learn how to protect themselves, friends and family from scam artists, fraudulent businesses, identity theft and phone spoofing. A liaison from the Illinois Attorney General’s office will also be there to give a presentation.
